Not Riots. Rebellion.

They must have seen this coming. How could they not.

A never-ending school to prison pipeline of minority kids to feed private, for profit jails.

Stagnant wages for the last 40 years

No job security

Record unemployment

An assault on science and knowledge

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer

Wall street bailouts, not a bail out of main street

No hope

Even the rich started coming to the conclusion that if you don’t feed them, they kill you. French Revolution anyone?

This should be a surprise to no one. If it wasn’t George Floyd last week, it would be someone else of African descent who will be the martyr this week.

Like the hopes and prayers offered to the families of the daily mass shooting in the US, the US has no real desire to change. The only desire is for the already obscenely wealthy to take whats left of the pie from the already impoverished and middle classes. The US elevates profits ahead of its people. So of course, the US prison system is overflowing with black and Latinos. US corporations need a cheap source of prison labour to compete with China.

Poverty is a disease that a good income from a secure, meaningful job can cure. But the US can’t do that because paying someone at McDonalds a living wage (and hint hint $15/h is not a livable wage) takes money out of the pockets of millionaire CEO’s and shareholders. Can’t have that.

Universal health care? How do we pay for that the politicians and business leaders chant in unison, apparently not realizing they spend in excess of $1 trillion on their military.  4% of the world’s population is responsible for 36% of the globe’s military spending…seems like somewhere they can cut.

The US was founded on a violent past...from slaughtering the native population, slavery, the Boston Tea Party. it's no surprise that the US continues it's commission of violence in the 21st century.

Americans seem to be waking up and deciding they don't want to live in a system that impoverishes them, looks down on them and steals from them. Until the politicians and the uber rich that own the politicians wake up and realize that they are the minority and the hundreds of millions they have abused, cheated, stole from and lied to are the majority, they risk the pitchforks coming out and their riches being taken from them by force. 

Let them eat cake...at your own peril.
